Product design is the process of creating a product with the goal of solving a problem for the end user in a creative and easily accessible way. You’ll be able to increase your chances for success when you develop with a clear
vision in mind. Here’s how our services work.

Product Design Stages

  1. Research & Product Concept

Our product design team will research a problem and find out what has been tried before, what has been successful and what has failed in the past to avoid those mistakes. They will look at market and consumer trends to see what is popular and unpopular and what can be incorporated into the design.

Our team will work with you to have a vision and goal to work towards for your product

  2. Design & Engineering

Once the vision and goals have been established, and a quote for what it will take to design and develop the first revision of the design has been accepted, our product design team will then begin designing the product. The types of files designed will be industry specific. If it is a textile product, then clothing patterns will be designed.

For most manufactured products, the designer will make engineer files in 2D PDFs and 3D Models. The 3D models for manufacturing are often called CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) files.

  3. Prototyping

After the first revision of the design is complete, it will now be time to test the product with a prototype. The prototype can be used for a variety of different purposes including product testing, conducting market research to get feedback from your customers on what they think of your product, and helping with getting a patent. Prototyping is a crucial part of product design. We can offer prototyping services from overseas at a fraction of a cost of the domestic services.

  4. Testing and Design Finalization

In most situations, you’ll need to make some adjustments to your design after the first round of prototypes. This is a normal part of the product development process. Its extremely rare a product comes off perfectly in the first round of prototyping.

Tips for Designing Your Product

  1. Keep it Simple

Most of the top successful products are easy to use. Don’t allow feature creep to enter your design. Feature creep is when you add too many options, accessories, and features into your product that it becomes too complicated for people to use.

  2. Make it About the Customer

Always have the customer in mind when designing your product. What are the current consumer trends in relation to your product? Are they wanting to be eco-friendly? What are the design styles for some of the similar products?

  3. Do Market Research

Once you have a prototype made you should talk to your potential customers to get feedback on what they think of your product. Ask them open-ended questions to get ideas from them on what they like and don’t like about your product, if it is easy to use, if they would buy it if they saw it in a store, and what they would change about it. You might find they’ll come up with some great ideas you haven’t thought of before.

  4. Have a Story to Tell

Customers like to relate to people and feel connected. By having a story about how you came up with the idea about your product and how you want it to help people, your customers will feel connected to your product. This is a much more powerful way of advertising than a list of statistics and figures about your product’s capabilities, but it is good to have both to maximize your impact.
